Hours: 37 per week on a rolling 4 days on, 4 days off shift rota across 7 days

Contract: Permanent

Location: Torre Road Depot, 225a York Road, LS9 7QQ with some offsite working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a number of Vehicle (Van and Truck) Technicians to join our Fleet Maintenance team based at Leeds City Council’s York Road Depot (LS9), with occasional work required at other locations across the city.

Our Vehicle Technicians work on one of the city's largest and most diverse vehicle fleets while enjoying excellent benefits, job security and one of the best pension schemes available. You'll help ensure the council's 1200 strong fleet, including cars, vans, HGVs and more is maintained, repaired, and operated safely and efficiently.

About you As a Vehicle (Van and Truck) Technician, you will play a vital role in keeping Leeds' front-line services moving safely and efficiently.

You will bring to the role:

  • A positive 'can do' attitude and proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • The ability to work efficiently and safely while maintaining high standards
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across Fleet Services
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Effective teamwork skills to support business needs
  • A full and current UK category B manual driving licence. Possession of a category C (LGV) & D1 (minibus) licence would be an advantage, but not essential.

Applicants should also hold one of the following:

  • City & Guilds 4101 (Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair)
  • Repair and Servicing of Road Vehicles 383 – Full Level 2 or 3
  • NVQ Level 3 in Automotive Qualification
  • Motor Vehicle Craft Studies 381 – Full Part 2 or 3
  • Or an equivalent qualification

About the role This role is integral to Fleet Services, which is responsible for maintaining and repairing the council’s corporate fleet of more than 1,200 vehicles. Duties will include maintaining the council's varied fleet of vehicles including cars, vans, tippers, welfare buses, large goods, refuse vehicles and many more.

The role operates on a 4 days on, 4 days off rota across 7 days, with working hours of 7am to 6.05pm. This includes weekend and bank holiday working (excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day). The rota pattern provides regular scheduled rest days and a strong work-life balance across the year.

Programming ECM - PCM - ECU
Suspension and steering repair
